Update on pathology. 💖 From Rachael's Family Update: 4/15/2022
Rachael and Gabe have received the pathology result for Rachael's brain mass. The mass is an aggressive, fast-growing tumor and will require another surgery in the next few weeks to remove tumor from the right frontal lobe of her brain. The tumor is a WHO histolic grade 3 Oligodendroglioma.
Once she has recovered from the surgery, she will more than likely require radiation and chemotherapy. Rachael has made the decision to go through with the surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy and we support her decision.
Rachael has expressed that she feels very grateful and happy there is a plan and she can begin to move forward. She has also expressed how thankful she is for her healing team and knows that there are many people on her side to help her through this. She feels that the tumor has already given her more than it has taken, and wants everyone to know that while this is very heavy, Rachael is finding this to be a very spiritually enlightening experience that she is drawing on for comfort, hope, and positivity in the journey to come.
We are setting up a Caring Bridge account this weekend and will start sharing updates there. We will share the link with everyone as soon as it's available. The Caring Bridge website will also provide a place where friends and family can see what current needs Rachael has and can help her out in a very meaningful way that is easily organized via the website. This is going to be a long road and Gabe and Rachael are barely able to keep up with all of the messages they're receiving from folks wanting to be updated. While they appreciate and love everyone and are thankful for the mass amount of well wishing, their energies are going to be focused on going through this experience and moving through each day.
Again, the surgery will occur sometime in the next few weeks. We do not have an exact date yet, but will share that information when it is appropriate to do so. __________________________
Rachael mentioned to me to add, that the Doctors expressed this is in the best place possible in her brain. And that yes it can have long term effects cognitively, it can just as well have positive effects with the removal of the tumor. This gives Rachael hope and chooses to focus on the positive.
Keep the prayers coming and the go fund me donations are appreciated. As this is going to be a long Journey for Rachael.
