Shari Courtier was attending massage school at Northwest Academy of the Healing Arts, taking her business class, and knew she had to find the name of her business. Shari wanted to run a spa where people could find different massage modalities and to create a space for individualized care that was unlike any other.
Shari tried several names, but none of them were quite the right fit. One day Shari was daydreaming in class and staring out the window, gazing at three trees in a park. It was at that moment that the name came to her: "Three Trees Massage and Wellness Center". She could see the wellness center having a store, classrooms, and many different therapists.
At the same time Shari was finishing massage school, her mentor Beverly, a massage therapist and esthetician, was managing her clinic and store known as SNL Supplies in Burien, Washington. One day in April of 2009, a man named Scott Carpenter came in for a facial with Beverly.
Beverly, couldn’t Stop thinking of Shari and how Scott and her would get along. She asked Scott if he would mind her passing on his number to Shari. He didn’t hesitate and said yes. Shari waited to call till after she had graduated massage school and finally called a day after graduation. Scott and Shari met two days later April 28, 2010.
Back to the Wellness Center. Beverly called Shari and told her she had an idea six months after Shari and Scott first met. It was to sell her Massage Supply and Wellness store to them and help them build the Wellness Center Shari had dreamed of in massage school by teaching them about the store.
Shari and Scott became owners of the store in January 2011. The day they signed papers, Beverly mentioned the location of the store resides in the Three Tree Point Neighborhood without knowing Shari had thought of the name "Three Trees" years ago. Shari and Scott were shocked that their dream and their location matched up, like destiny.
To this day, the name fits the culture of the business. Scott has gone on to do other work and Shari has carried on her dream of a place where people can come for pain and stress relief and healing of the Mind, Body and Spirit.
